4 Steps to Your Million Dollar Book

Image
One needs a game plan or a strategy that is the overarching principle of guidance. Life is a series of steps: one decides what steps to take and that is what creates freedom for you and others. Your first book is a miracle of a series of steps that get you there. So, what principles could we use to keep on track? Your Space is Yours! Claim it! Your chair, your desk, your space to work. Put it in good working order. This extends further though. What is the main idea for your book? Search the titles on Amazon for less than three (3) words to sum it up. Notice that even the movies do this. Claim your chapter titles! What is it that you want to say? It extends further to what you want. What goals did you set. Forty-nine percent reach goals they have written down. What do you want to do Will Riker? Answer that question and begin. Consistency Decide on a time to write. Setup 2 hours per day and schedule it into your calendar. Writing consists of research and thinking and writing. Breathe. Yo...

Literacy, the 1-trillion Dollar Problem

Image
Sometimes one needs clarity. To sum things up in one word, mine was literacy. Because I have been thinking in big pictures lately and with that comes the big questions and alignment with what you are doing and why you do it. What big question do you wish to solve? By turning a problem into a question, one can seek answers. This is what I was discussing with Seann over dinner yesterday. In short and from Star Trek comes the big question: What do you want Will Riker? Sometimes one has to step back from the myriad of tasks and get a bird's eye view. Why am I talking about this with you? Good question. Because I don't know a single person that doesn't struggle with their WHY and what they are going to do in life. So for me, the big word was Literacy, and then came the BIG question: How much does your lack of literacy cost you? Even in America, illiteracy leads to a host of damaging effects. The Washington Literacy Council  found  that 68% of those arrested in the U.S. ar...

Freddie, the Talking Mouse Video Click here:  https://youtu.be/Z3q1bbYEUYU . According to writer Joseph Epstein, “81 percent of Americans feel that they have a book in them — and should write it.” That's over 200 million people and counting. What's stopping them? I wish I knew. Maybe it's a someday I will do it! And then it never happens. So how many people do complete a book? Not as many as you would think. I am a published author and writer's coach. My first advice to you would be to do a short course entitled, The Writer's Pen Sentence Course. This course is specifically on certain sentence types that if learned by writing sentence after sentence will provide you with the first key in the lock of the first gate of Avalon. Form comes next. Each type of writing has a form and th...

Writing that Story...need Writing Skills?

3 Writing Ingredients No matter where you are in your writing, these three ingredients if applied liberally will change your work. Word Power There is no escaping dictionary use for a wordsmith. Words are key. If you are struggling with the right word, it means your vocabulary is missing words for you to use.  A daily routine of mine is to look one word up per day. There is a technique to gaining word power with several dictionaries--young readers and a college level. Using the internet is great for sounding out the word but not for meaning as ALL the definitions are not there!  You can use the word 'define' and the word you are looking at to get a meaning but as you are going to write all kinds of different types of writing and a word has more than just a few meanings you might try the approach of making sentences with ALL the definitions. Interested in how to do this, consult with me for a half-hour and find out at wtarasoff7@gmail.com . Sentence Power There are about...
